Faithfully restored to the 1850s, the Wadsworth-Longfellow House was the

childhood home of the famous poet. Built in 1785-86 by the poet's grandfather,

the house is decorated with original furnishings and family memorabilia.

Tours offer a unique glimpse into the life of the poet's family, as well as into the

cultural and social history of 19th-century Portland. 2008 marked the

200th anniversary of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's birth.
